{"id":299,"date":"2018-04-19T13:42:36","date_gmt":"2018-04-19T11:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uncertain2degrees.wordpress.com\/?p=299"},"modified":"2018-07-27T09:50:14","modified_gmt":"2018-07-27T09:50:14","slug":"guidelines-for-discussions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uncertain2degrees.blogs.uni-hamburg.de\/?p=299","title":{"rendered":"Guidelines for discussions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Some rules for discussing<\/h2>\n<p>When <strong>discussing<\/strong>, there are a few points that help to make it easier for you to explain your position and for the other person to understand your arguments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speak calm and clear.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t interrupt: Let everyone finish explaining the point they are trying to make.<\/li>\n<li>Be descriptive: Make sure everyone knows exactly what you are talking about.<\/li>\n<li>Be concrete: Point out exactly what you see different and why.<\/li>\n<li>Be constructive: Show options of how your arguments might contribute to the others argumentations and leave room for different opinions.<\/li>\n<li>Be team players: don\u2019t just follow your own path but take up what others say and react to each other\u2019s argumentation.<\/li>\n<li>Be realistic: If you are working on a tight timeline, do consider whether bringing all your arguments is necessary or whether there are points that are more essential than others.<\/li>\n<li>Be interested: ask questions and try to understand the other\u2019s arguments.<\/li>\n<li>Be friendly: the role-play is a debate, not a fight.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t overdo it: if you feel that your argumentation is not fruitful, don\u2019t start over and over again.<\/li>\n<li>Ask for clarification: If in doubt, ask what they meant by what they said.<\/li>\n<li>Take notes: Write down the important points, interesting arguments, differences and similarities, \u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(Download the document: <a href=\"http:\/\/uncertain2degrees.blogs.uni-hamburg.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Discussion_rules.docx\">Discussion_rules<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some rules for discussing When discussing, there are a few points that help to make it easier for you to explain your position and for the other person to understand your arguments: Speak calm and clear.
