My poster idea is investigating in marine protected areas (MPAs) in the Philippines.<\/p>\n
The country established roughly 500 MPAs with the goal to both increase environmental conservation in the terms of biodiversity as well as fish stock which would in turn effect the livelihood of the population that is highly dependent on local fisheries.<\/p>\n
The management of these MPAs show a range from poor to successful and I want to take a close look at the interactions between local communities, government and researchers as I also took part in maintaining coral reef conservation a few years back and am now interested in how good management practices including transparent communication can enforce engagement and trust of the local public leading to higher success of the MPA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
