Panel Discussion (group 1)

For the panel discussion, we already agreed on the moderators ( Clara and Sara)

  1. The questions we would like to ask:
  • What is “uncertainty” to you?
  • How do you  deal with uncertainty on a daily basis (related to climate)
  • How can we treat uncertainties in an interdisciplinary field such as climate sciences?
  • How do you communicate uncertainties in your field?
  • Is there a positive side to uncertainty? How can uncertainty be used as a thriver for societal Change?
  • It’s been said that scientists are very skeptical of ever reaching the 2-degree target. How certain are you of reaching the target or in general what the perception of the target is in their area of work?

2 . Audience: Who do you want to invite as an audience? How should people be invited? Mailing list? Who can be contacted to spread the word? How should the panel discussion be advertised?

  • Meteorologist and Climate & Ocean master students. Using the mailing list.
  • We would also like to invite students with a Social background, perhaps some professors could help us extend the invitation to them .

3. Technical issues: what is the time frame for the discussion (we have requested a time frame of 90 minutes from the panelists, but recommend reducing the time frame). How much time for the introductory statement, how much time for the discussion….? Zoom link? Zoom rules?

  • 2-3 mins each to introduce themselves.
  • 40 mins discussion
  • 20~ mins audience questions
  • Approx: 1 h 30 — cameras on, raise your hand for questions.
